Thought Trains
A drive in the rain
Distant sounds
Of a westbound train
Every path
Has a crossroad ahead
Always aligned
To the grid in a head
Before you thought
It was the last refrain
You rushed back to take the midnight train
Round and round
Always the same
When you ride the rails
Of the thought trains
The mind was designed
With a room for a head
An ocean view, a place to forget
Thoughts will fade
Between the shore and the waves
Map an empty space
Plan a route to escape
Before you thought
It was the last refrain
You rushed back to take the midnight train
Round and round
Always the same
When you ride the rails
Of the thought trains
A story can change
In a telephone game
The thinker is gone
But the thoughts remain
Inside the head
Are endless threads
Follow the lines
To the very end
