Even-Steven

Everyone wants to be
Even-steven
But even Steven
Doesn't get what he wants

Everyone wants to be
What they're dreamin'
But even dreamin'
Won't get you what you want

Everyone wants to see
What I'm seein'
But what I'm seein'
Is really nuthin' at all

Everyone wants to be
A believer
Or see a healer
To make the pain go away

• We expect equality--that we can all have the same opportunities, luck, or talents. But in reality, even Steven the billionaire never has enough.
• The self-help industry, particularly "The Secret" promotes the idea that if we visualize the life we want it will come true.
• People see others traveling around the world, and sharing photos on social media which makes us envious. But oftentimes those experiences are less than magical--you're not missing anything--it rained almost the whole time they were there, and they lost their luggage--or much worse that can now happen on an airplane.
• People see therapists or life coaches to deal with the psychic pain of envy and jealousy.
